Tip for Trip 1

Favorite is mainly the route to the south, from Lednice over Valtice and Hlohovec and back. It is an undemanding road with a length of less than 20 km, leading around many sights in the Lednice-Valtice Areal. You will see the New Court, Three Graces, Chapel of Saint Hubert and Rendez-Vous on the direction of Valtice. In Valtice, you can visit the Castle or the Archive of the Czech and Moravian wines. Over Valtice, you will find the Colonnade (Reistna), fom where is a wonderful view of the landscape. Furthermore you go towards Hlohovec, where you find the Border Chateau on the shore of the Hlohovec Pond, with good refreshment in the stylish restaurant. On the way back you can see the Fishing Pond and Middle Pond.

On a short trip you can go to the north of Lednice. It is a 12 km circuit, leading around the Hunting Castle to the Janohrad (John's Castle), where you can see the hunting and ornithological exposure. Furthermore you will go on the way to Podivin, around the meanders of the river Thaya. Behind the bridge over the main branch of the river Thaya, there is erected the well-known sight called Obelisk. Here this small circle ends, then you go back again towards Lednice.

For the lovers of nature and archeology we recommend visiting of the archaeological sight Pohansko near Breclav. Pohansko is to be found within the largest complex of the original floodplain forest in Central Europe. Furthermore, you can continue along the small roads built by the "border guards", at the confluence of the Morava and Thaya rivers.

For able-bodied cyclists, the trip arond the Palava Hills is ideal. I would recommend to select the path to Hlohovec, around the ponds Hlohovecky and Nesyt, through the village of Sedlec and towards Mikulov. You can visit here numerous tourist attractions, like the Mikulov Castle, Dietrichstein Tomb, Jewish Cemetery, Holy Hill and more. Furthermore, you will go around the Cat Rock to the village Klentnice, above which rises the Castle of Orphans (you can visit it with bicycle). From Klentnice you will go down the road to the village Perna and over the village Horni Vestonice to Dolni Vestonice, which is well-known by the finding of the statue Venus of Vestonice, the copy of which is to be seen in the local museum. Furthermore, you will gou around the Pavlov village, over which there is the Girl's Castle (but it is not possible to go to this castle on bicycle). The return journey leads you on the axis over Milovice and Bulhary around the river Thaya, where you will pass the weir and then you will continue through the floodplain forest to Lednice.
